CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Centennial High School will celebrate its graduating seniors during AVID Decision Day on Thursday, April 30, highlighting students’ college and career commitments. This year’s event honors 33 seniors—the largest AVID cohort in school history.

The event will be held on Thursday, April 30, from 1:30–3:20 p.m., in the North Gym of Centennial High School.

AVID, a nationally recognized program supporting college and career readiness, will spotlight student-athletes such as Alicia Thomas, committing to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for track and field, and JJ Lewandowski, potentially headed to Penn State University. Academic achievements will also be recognized, including Nina Brown, who earned multiple recruitment offers and an 80% tuition scholarship to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

The event will also honor Jakari Myles, Centennial’s first AVID legacy student, following in a parent’s footsteps as an AVID graduate. Media are invited to capture the signing moments, student stories, and the growth of AVID at Centennial High School.
