CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two individuals wanted for questioning regarding the use of counterfeit U.S. currency at the Schnucks supermarket in Savoy on Friday, April 24.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the report of counterfeit money being passed at the store, sparking an ongoing investigation. The department is now looking to identify and speak with two individuals who may have information crucial to the case.

Individuals with information are urged to contact the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office at 217-384-1204. Tips can be submitted confidentially, and the department ensures the privacy of anyone willing to provide assistance.

Cash Rewards Offered

Crime Stoppers also offers cash rewards for tips that lead to arrests. Rewards can be up to $5,000 for homicide cases, $2,500 for felony firearm crimes, and up to $1,000 for other criminal cases, including the one currently under investigation.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or who has any additional information related to the counterfeit currency case to reach out and help law enforcement with their investigation.
