Champaign Fire Department extinguishes fire in single-story residence on Wednesday

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Just before noon on Wednesday, February 26, the Champaign Fire Department responded to a residential fire that was put out before it could spread.

The fire was in the 1500 block of Honeysuckle Lane in a single-story residence. Once on-scene, firefighters deployed several hose lines to extinguish the fire, keeping it from extending to adjacent homes.

The cause of this fire is not determined as investigators remain on scene conducting their investigation.  There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

The Champaign Fire Department reminded the community of the importance of working smoke alarms.
