URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — On Thursday, the City of Urbana announced the availability of funding for grants to perform emergency and accessibility repairs for low-income households within Urbana’s municipal boundary.

Current repair programs include:

  • Emergency Repair Grants (up to $10,000 per home)
  • Emergency Roof Repair Grants (up to $15,000 per home)
  • Emergency Sewer Repair Grants (up to $15,000 per home)
  • Accessibility Grants (up to $10,000 per home)

Households must be within 80% of the median family income as determined by Housing and Urban Development. Emergency repairs must be in an owner-occupied home and addressing a condition that poses an immediate health or safety risk to occupants. Accessibility grants are intended to eliminate physical barriers to home occupants with disabilities.

Housing rehab grants are federally funded and are available while funds last. For more information about the grant or to apply, visit the City of Urbana’s website here.
