CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District has launched a new online portal designed to simplify and speed up the food permit application process.

The system, introduced by the district’s Environmental Health Division, allows users to submit applications, pay invoices and manage permits entirely online, 24 hours a day. Officials say the platform replaces a previous paper-based system and is expected to significantly reduce processing times.

The new system supports a wide range of services, including permits for retail and mobile food establishments, cottage food registrations, temporary food permits and plan reviews for new construction projects.

“All applications must now be submitted electronically through the portal,” the district said in a release.

Officials also reminded businesses that permit renewals are due by April 30. Those needing assistance with the new system can contact the Environmental Health Division directly.

The portal is available through the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District’s website.
