CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — An elementary school impacted by severe storms earlier this week will resume in-person instruction on Thursday, April 30, after staff and volunteers worked to relocate classrooms within the building.

DeLand-Weldon CUSD #57 school officials said damage from Monday night’s storms affected part of the building, but crews were able to move classes into undamaged areas to ensure students can safely return.

The district confirmed that classes will be held in person as scheduled, crediting the quick response and coordination of staff and community volunteers for minimizing disruption.

Officials also thanked families for their patience and support as recovery efforts continued, noting that additional updates will be shared if needed.
