Downtown Danville announces tree lighting ceremony

DANVILLE, Ill. (Chambana Today) — It’s a great time to start getting in the holiday spirit and those looking in the Danville area to put a little holiday cheer and excitement into their lives, are invited downtown to Temple Plaza on November 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. to help add a little sparkle and shine to their days with the annual Downtown Danville Lighting Ceremony.

Event highlights include the official lighting at 5:30 p.m. where you can watch the downtown area glow with holiday cheer, Come meet Santa and grab a few photos with Jolly ole Elf from 5 -6 p.m. and get some free hot chocolate while also being tempted from local food trucks like That Weiner Wagon and Mixed Up Mobile, who will be serving delicious food and drinks. Come listen to Carolers fill the streets with festive music.

As a new addition this year, the City is hosting a Holiday Photo Contest, where visitors can scan the QR codes posted around the downtown area and upload their pictures with the Christmas lights. Each week, favorite photos will be selected and featured on the City of Danville Parks and Recreation Facebook page.

The event is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season together as a community. Bring your family and friends to downtown Danville for an evening full of holiday spirit, food, music and community fun!
