URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) – Dutch Bros Coffee, one of the nation’s fastest-growing drive-thru coffee chains, is bringing its energetic brand to Illinois, selecting Urbana as the home of its first location in the state.

The company will break ground at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, at 809 West Green Street, on the high-traffic corner of Lincoln Avenue and Green Street—the gateway to Campustown and the University of Illinois campus.

Founded in 1992 in Grants Pass, Oregon, Dutch Bros now boasts more than 800 locations nationwide. Known for its signature coffee drinks, Blue Rebel energy beverages, and upbeat service culture, Dutch Bros promises fast service with an energetic twist.

Urbana Mayor DeShawn Williams welcomed the announcement, calling the addition “more than just coffee” and a vibrant hangout spot for residents, students, and visitors.

The Urbana location is expected to open later in 2025, offering a full menu of handcrafted drinks and a lively customer experience. Dutch Bros is also known for its charitable giving, often supporting local causes through community-based initiatives like Dutch Luv.

“This will be a unique addition to our Campustown area,” said Andrea L. Ruedi, Senior Advisor for the City of Urbana. “It’s exciting to see Urbana leading Dutch Bros’ entry into Illinois.”

The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking event. For more, visit www.dutchbros.com or urbanaillinois.us.
