UPDATE ON FATAL CRASH: Person named in fatal crash Wednesday evening crash

TOLONO, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Champaign County Coroner Laurie Brauer is releasing the name of an individual who has died as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle crash that occurred at Route 45 and 600N near Tolono, Illinois, on Tuesday, September 30. Steven L. Stumborg, 34, of Tolono, Illinois, was pronounced dead at the scene on September 30 at 7:32 p.m. An autopsy has been scheduled. This death remains under investigation by the Champaign County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police

Update at 8:30 a.m.: One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening on U.S. Route 45, according to the Illinois State Police.

The crash occurred around 7:15 p.m. and led to a full closure of the highway in both directions. Emergency crews remained on scene for several hours, and the road did not reopen until approximately 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

State Police said one driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries or identities have been released at this time, and investigators have not provided details about what led to the collision.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Updates will be provided as they become available.
