CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The Parkland College Jazz Combo will present its spring concert at 7 p.m. Monday, April 27, at the college’s Second Stage Theatre.

The performance will feature a mix of classic jazz standards and original arrangements, highlighting both student musicians and guest performers. Special guest Josh Houchin will join the ensemble on bass, alongside director Kevin Hart on piano and vibraphone.

Other performers include Tim Holl on alto saxophone, Jacob Poole on trombone, Jakob Schifo on guitar and vocals, and James Kinsella on drums.

The program will include selections such as “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” by Duke Ellington, “Gentle Rain” by Luiz Bonfá, and “Sack O’ Woe” by Cannonball Adderley, along with additional jazz standards and arrangements by ensemble members.

“For decades, the Parkland Jazz Combo has provided a great opportunity for upcoming musicians in the Champaign-Urbana area to gain playing and improvisation experience in a small jazz group setting,” Hart said.

The concert is part of Parkland’s ongoing music ensemble series. More information is available at parkland.edu/musicensembles.
