CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The American Red Cross is calling on blood donors of all types to give blood or platelets this fall to help ensure a stable supply for patients in need of lifesaving transfusions.

With the potential for seasonal shortages, the Red Cross is encouraging the public to make an appointment to donate as soon as possible. In appreciation for their generosity, donors who give between September 22 and October 19, will receive a $10 Amazon.com Gift Card via e-mail.

Those who donate between October 20 and November 16, will receive a $10 e-gift card to a merchant of their choice and be automatically entered for a chance to win one of three $5,000 gift cards. Full details are available at RedCrossBlood.org/Fall and RedCrossBlood.org/Harvest.

“This is a critical time to give,” said Connie Esparza, Communications Director for the Red Cross Illinois Region. “Whether you’re a first-time donor or a regular, your donation can help save lives and ensure blood products are available when they’re needed most.”

To schedule a donation or learn more, visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS.
