Republican primary forum to air on WILL-AM 580

URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — A forum featuring the two Republican primary candidates for Illinois’ 13th Congressional District will air Thursday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. on WILL-AM 580’s The 21st Show.

Candidates Joshua Loyd and Jeff Wilson participated in the recorded discussion, which was moderated by Brian Mackey, host of The 21st Show. The forum was recorded Feb. 12 at the studios of Illinois Public Media in Urbana.

The event was organized by the League of Women Voters of Champaign County in partnership with Illinois Public Media. Co-sponsors include the NAACP Champaign County Branch and The News-Gazette. Additional broadcasts will air on WILL-AM 580 and WILL-FM 90.9. A video recording will be available on the Illinois Public Media and League of Women Voters of Champaign County YouTube channels.

“The person who represents the 13th Congressional District is an important voice in Congress for many residents of central and southern Illinois,” said Cathy Emanuel, forum lead for the League of Women Voters of Champaign County. “One of these two candidates will be on the ballot in the November Midterm Election. This forum is a valuable opportunity for voters who are selecting a Republican ballot in the Primary to learn about these candidates’ positions and priorities before casting their vote.”

Voters can learn more about the candidates through the League’s nonpartisan online guide at votechampaign.org.

The primary election will be held March 17. In-person early voting began Feb. 5 at the Bennett Administration Center in Urbana, with additional countywide early voting locations opening March 9. Vote-by-mail ballots must be returned or postmarked by March 17.

The League of Women Voters is a national, nonpartisan political organization that promotes informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Voting membership is open to individuals 16 years and older, regardless of gender identity.
