Three U of I football players to participate in NFL Combine this week

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Three former Illinois Fighting Illini football players will participate in the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, which has started this week at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The combine runs until March 1, and the three Illini are quarterback Luke Altmyer, offensive lineman J.C. Davis, and outside linebacker Gabe Jacas. The three will work out in front of NFL scouts and front office representatives from all 32 teams at the event, which will be televised by NFL Network.

In his five seasons at Illinois, head coach Bret Bielema has sent 18 players to the NFL combine, the program’s most over a five-year stretch.

Since 1987, a total of 79 players have represented Illinois at the NFL Combine.
