ROSEMONT, IL (Chambana Today) — Fighting Illini sophomore Freddie Turnell has been named Big Ten Golfer of the Week after winning the Hoosier Collegiate in Bloomington, Indiana, April 18-19.

Turnell carded rounds of 72-70-70 for a three-round total of 212, finishing one under par as the only competitor in the 88-player field to record multiple rounds under par. He tallied 10 birdies and one eagle, posting par or better on 44 of 54 holes, and closed out the victory with a birdie on his final hole.
