Update on report of unresponsive man in Danville

11/24/25 – This is an update to the original press release
DANVILLE, Ill. — On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at approximately 4:22 p.m., Danville
Police officers responded to a report of a man down and unresponsive in the 400 block of East Williams
Street near Stoney Creek.
Upon arrival, officers located a 45-year-old Stephen Petmecky lying beside the creek. He was
pronounced deceased at the scene.
Based on the initial investigation, officers observed no signs of trauma, and no foul play is
suspected at this time. The Danville Police Department is continuing to review the circumstances of the
incident. It is awaiting autopsy results from the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office to determine the
official cause of death.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information is being released at this time.
