URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — The Urbana City Council will meet Monday night to consider several traffic-related ordinances, infrastructure improvements and a mayoral appointment to fill a vacant council seat.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at Urbana City Hall, 400 S. Vine St., and will also be broadcast on Urbana Public Television and livestreamed online.

Among the items on the consent agenda are two ordinances that would add stop signs at several intersections. One measure would require stop signs at the intersection of Grove and Anderson streets at High Street. Another would add stop signs at four intersections in the Beringer Commons subdivision.

Council members will also consider a resolution authorizing the mayor to execute a right-of-way dedication along North Lincoln Avenue near the former Fire Station No. 3 property at 1407 N. Lincoln Ave.

Another resolution would approve the use of state motor fuel tax funds for improvements to Windsor Road between Philo Road and High Cross Road.

On the regular agenda, the council will discuss an ordinance that would prohibit parking at all times along a stretch of Vine Street between Holmes Street and Florida Avenue.

Police officials are also scheduled to present the Urbana Police Department’s 2025 annual use-of-force report.

In addition, Mayor DeShawn Williams is expected to present an appointment for the vacant Ward 4 City Council seat. Verdell Jones III has been nominated to serve the remainder of the term, which runs through April 6, 2027.

Residents may provide public input during the meeting in person, by written submission or by email.
