URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — The City of Urbana Committee of the Whole is scheduled to meet Monday, March 2 at 7 p.m. at 400 South Vine Street to review several traffic ordinances and public works initiatives.

The meeting, chaired by Ward 1 Alderperson Maryalice Wu, included discussion of updates to the city’s local traffic code, a public works campus remodel report, and multiple resolutions related to infrastructure improvements.

Among the items under new business:

  • Ordinance No. 2026-03-006, which would require stop signs at Grove Street and Anderson Street at High Street. Council members were also set to consider Ordinance No. 2026-03-007, prohibiting parking at all times on Vine Street from Pell Circle to Florida Avenue.
  • Another proposed ordinance would require stop signs at four intersections within the Beringer Commons subdivision.
  • In addition to traffic changes, council members were scheduled to consider Resolution No. 2026-03-009R, authorizing the mayor to execute a right-of-way dedication along North Lincoln Avenue at the site of the former Fire Station #3.
  • A separate resolution would authorize improvements under the Illinois Highway Code using state Motor Fuel Tax funds for Windsor Road from Philo Road to High Cross Road.
  • The agenda also included a staff report regarding the Public Works campus remodel and funding considerations.
  • Residents were encouraged to participate in public input either in person or by email. Public comments submitted before adjournment would be entered into the public record with identifying information redacted.
